Work

Consultancy — modelling, analysis, and making sense of data that has not been made sense of yet.

Placeholder. Everything on this page is a scaffold in your own voice — rewrite it before the site goes public. Nothing here should be taken as a claim about your experience until you have written it yourself.

I work independently on problems where the question is not yet well posed: where the data is awkward, the system has feedback in it, and the honest answer is a range rather than a number.

What that looks like in practice

  • Modelling physical and environmental systems — groundwater, storage, supply and demand under uncertainty.
  • Exploratory analysis — taking a dataset nobody has interrogated properly and finding out what it actually supports.
  • Visualisation as thinking — building the picture that makes a mechanism obvious, rather than decorating a conclusion.
  • Teaching and workshops — mathematics and quantitative reasoning for people who do not think of themselves as mathematical.

TODO: cut this list down to what you genuinely want to be hired for.

How I work

Small engagements, clearly bounded. I would rather scope a fortnight and deliver something you can act on than sell a quarter of vagueness. You get the workings, not just the summary — the code and the assumptions come with the report.

TODO: add rates, availability, and whether you work remotely, on site, or both.

Selected work

The notes are the fullest record of how I think. For client work specifically:

TODO: two or three short case studies. For each: the problem, what you did, what changed as a result. If a piece is confidential, describe the shape of it without naming the client.

Availability

TODO: state whether you are currently taking work, and the kind of engagement that fits best.
